On April 9, 2025, National Open College proudly hosted the 12th National Seminar on Healthcare Management at Hotel Manang, Thamel, Kathmandu — a landmark event that brought together healthcare professionals, scholars, students, and industry leaders for a full day of insightful learning, vibrant discussion, and meaningful networking.

This prestigious seminar was specifically organized for the Master of Healthcare Management (MHCM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management (PGDHCM) students, offering them a dynamic platform to engage with critical healthcare challenges, emerging trends, and innovative solutions that will shape the future of healthcare management.

About National Open College

As South Asia’s first college specializing in healthcare management, National Open College is the largest private institution offering advanced degrees in healthcare and public health. With the current enrollment of the 40th Batch of MHCM, 32nd Batch of PGDHCM, and over 3500 graduates, NOC continues its legacy of excellence in preparing healthcare leaders across Nepal and beyond.

A Day of Learning, Inspiration, and Collaboration

The seminar began with registration and breakfast, followed by an inauguration ceremony featuring the lighting of the Panas lamp and speeches from distinguished guests and senior faculty members.

Keynote Presentations

The seminar featured two compelling keynote speeches. Prof. A.K. Siva Kumar opened the event with a presentation on “Challenges & Opportunities in Healthcare Management in this Millennium,” setting the stage for meaningful discussions throughout the day.

Later in the afternoon, Dr. Bachu Kailash Kaini — Nepal’s first PhD holder in Healthcare Management and a distinguished visiting professor at NOC — delivered an inspiring keynote speech online from the UK, sharing global perspectives on healthcare leadership and innovation.

Technical Sessions

The seminar featured two parallel technical sessions that allowed MHCM and PGDHCM students to dive deep into their fields:

  • Health Management Session:
This session focused on public health awareness, health systems, policy, epidemiology, and leadership, featuring presentations from global health experts, public health officers, and academics.
  • Hospital Management Session:
Focusing on “Professionally Managed Hospitals with IT & AI,” this session explored digital innovation, disaster management, environmental health, and quality improvement, with presentations from healthcare consultants, hospital CEOs, and researchers.

Networking & Cultural Engagement

Participants enjoyed a buffet-style networking lunch and a vibrant cultural program showcasing Nepal’s rich heritage. These moments fostered camaraderie and allowed students and professionals to build lasting connections.

Closing Ceremony

The seminar concluded with a resolution reading and approval, followed by special mementos honoring the graduating MHCM and PGDHCM batches. Speeches by senior leaders and heartfelt thanks from the Chairman of NOC, Mr. Dayaram Thapa, closed the event on a high note.

Why This Seminar Matters

  • Sharpen leadership, analytical, and research skills
  • Build professional networks that support their future careers
